Then a Web-based version of NESBox and Retroarch (which includes N64 emulation btw) was released and the native XBO Web browser can boot that, albeit with much smaller access to the machine's raw power, and after having to recode most of the emulator in a shitty coding language. The official reason was that it wasn't submitted through the approval QA process for XBO games (then again how much third-party emulators passed such tests on any console, including Microsoft's?), and attracting attention to this N64 emulator which happened to pass as an "app" with the XBO checkbox ticked, would make it retroactively meet the same fate.
The latter went under the radar and was approved, the former got lots of publicity and not so coincidentally was on the track on approval then suddenly got rejected. NESBox and Win64e10 were both submitted as native XBO applications (like games).
